Additional costs

Next to the regististration fee participants should take into account the following extra costs when calculating their total budget:

Ferry transport from Marseille or Genova to Tunis & back for 4×4’s & trucks

We take a ferry between Marseille, in the south of France, or Genova, in the south of Italy to Tunis (north Tunesia) for 2 persons and a standard 4×4. The crossing of the Mediterranean Sea takes about 24 hours and brings the entire caravan in a comfortable way to Tunisia and back.

Plane ticket from Europe to Tunisia

Ryanair, Nouvelair and Tunisair. Many airline companies operate daily flights from Europe to Tunisia. The 2022 edition starts in Djerba and finishes in the bivouac in Star Wars near the airport of Tozeur. Djerba is a large city with lots of connections to Europe, and from Tozeur you have plenty of inland flights to the international airports. The organisation is providing a chartered flight from Holland and Belgium directly to the start of the rally and back home.

Fuel provisioning during the rally (all vehicles)

The fuel price in Tunisia (both for diesel and petrol) is a lower than in Europe. Most of our bivouacs will not have a petrol station in the area. The organisation will provide fuel at a fair price in the bivouac and at the checkpoints of the longer stages. We do not do this to earn money, but rather to offer a service.

Drinks

You get as much mineral water as you can drink/carry for free. Coke, wine and ice cold beers however, are a available in the bivouacs at very reasonable prices.

GPS UNIK 2 & Sentinel

Since 2015 is use of the GPS UNIK 2 and Sentinel (only in the Rally category) mandatory. These devices cannot be bought, so you’ll have to rent them at ERTF (www.ertf.com). Rental prices are about 380€ for a motorbike/quad/ssv and 480€ for a car/truck/buggy. More info as well as ordering forms will be published soon.

Satellite Tracking System

Because it’s important that the organisation can -at any moment in time- see where you are on the race track, it’s obligatory to have a tracking system on your vehicle. It also allows your friends & family at home to follow you during the race. This system, is obligatory for every parcipating vehicle on the track. It can be rented via Marlink: more info. For raid participants, the rent is included in the registration fee.

Hotel nights before the start of the rally

During the rally we all camp in beautiful desert bivouacs with all necessary confort (hot showers, European style toilets, large tents for dinner, etc.) and the last evening however, after the prize award ceremony in Monastir, you’ll be offered a room in a 5-star hotel, included in your registration fee.

What’s not included are the hotel nights before and during the administrative & technical controls (scruteneering) in Djerba. This is due to the fact that some teams already show up 1, 2, 3 or more days before the start of the event. A night in our 4-star hotel, just next to the bivouac, costs about 50€ per person in half-board (very good breakfast & dinner buffet included). No need to contact the hotel directly. You can book your rooms in the registration module Comptetitor Control in due course.

Satellite phone

Taking a satellite phone with you, is an option for the participants. Since the biggest part of the race takes place in an area without cell phone coverage, a satellite phone on board of every vehicle driving the stages is recommended. Satellite phones can be rented using the link which can be found in the registration system 'Competitor Control.'

Don't limit your challenges. Challenge your limits.
